My Paris Favorites

While I will always be team Bordeaux (after having lived in the city for about three years now) Paris has certainly grown on me. I’m definitely no expert, but after visiting a few times now, I’ve cultivated a list of some of my favorite Parisian spots. Whether you’re looking for a nice lunch spot or to feel the presence of la génération perdue, I’ve got you covered.

Angelina

Who says you can’t have cake for breakfast? Angelina is the perfect place to go when you’re feeling like a little sweet treat and wanting a Marie Antoinette moment. Located on the famous Rue de Rivoli and just across from Jardin des Tuileries, its location cannot be beaten. Opt for one of their beautiful pastries and a coffee rather than getting their full-on breakfast. You’ll still be able to enjoy the decadent decor without totally breaking the bank, though be aware Angelina is on the pricier side. My personal favorite is their fraisier, a hazelnut biscuit with light vanilla cream and fresh strawberries. What better way to start off your day than with dessert?

Le Moulin de la Galette

Located in the lovely Montmartre, Le Moulin de la Galette is a wonderful lunch spot. Their lunch menu prices are much more reasonable compared to their dinner menus (around €13 for lunch vs €40 for their dinner) and the outside terrace is simply charming.

Montmartre Artist Quarter

Montmartre is my favorite neighborhood and one of the things that makes this area so appealing is the artist presence. Have a coffee at the main square and take a little stroll to see all the artists at work. Just beware of those trying to get you to agree to a personal caricature or drawing, a simple “non, merci” should suffice.

Jardins du Trocadéro

When you want that perfect Eiffel Tower photo and view, Jardins du Trocadéro is the place to be. But, just about every person visiting knows it too, so make sure to get there early in the morning for the best views and as few tourists as possible. Your Instagram will thank you.

Shakespeare and Company

If you’re a Fitzgerald or Hemingway fan, Shakespeare and Company is an absolute must. Wander the little bookshop where the greats used to hang out. While the bookstore has a wide range of titles, you’ll be sure to find the lost generation’s work heavily featured. Feel free to pick up a journal here as well and have your own writer’s moment during your Parisian vacation, after all, Paris is the best for café journaling.

And you? What are some of your favorite things to do or see in Paris? Let me know down below!
